Internship Overview

The internship goal of a Marketing Intern Summer 2021 is to research marketing trends within media, control all operations within this team: website, Instagram, Facebook et cetera, and will support marketing campaigns by planning and executing their weekly tasks.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate values that align closely with AASuccess, and is not afraid to devise a variety of creative ideas through different mediums for our AASuccess brand every day. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Control YouthCon team’s media pushes for the YouthCon Scholarship via Email, Website, and Social Media.
  • Build positive relationships with our connectors, supporters, and donors while enhancing our marketing efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Fundraising intern to deliver marketing materials and correspondence targeted to AASuccess donors
  • Work alongside key Board Members and relevant team members to generate high-impact media campaigns for students, mentors, and supporters of AASuccess. 
  • Learns how to use AdobeSpark to produce marketing materials 
  • The intern is expected to present bi-weekly at Operations meetings and produce bi-weekly progress reports to the reporting manager to highlight work progress and achievement(s).
  • Conduct record management of files as directed.
  • All interns agree to policies and procedures for handling confidential documentation and information.

Deliverables

By the end date of the internship, the intern is expected to produce the following final deliverables: 
 

Create a mentor recruitment package tailored towards interested parties by speaking to former and current mentors, students, and volunteers

  1. Internal users (i.e AASuccess Board, mentors) will have access to a Google Drive folder including, but not limited to, the following items:
  2. The most recent AASuccess and DELTA Annual Reports
  3. Comprehensive documentation (i.e pamphlet), created by the Marketing intern, detailing key aspects of AASuccess relevant to interested mentors. 
  4. Such details will be sourced from existing media such as the AASuccess website or Annual Report and from interviews with relevant stakeholders. 
  5. Such a document can be shared with interested parties to persuade and inform them to be a meaningful mentor to an AASuccess student
  6.  A one-pager FAQ document answering common questions internal members may be asked by an interested mentor

Organizing the YouthCon Winner’s care package, which includes, but not limited to, the following elements:

  1.  General information about YouthCon Scholarship, including a Letter from the YouthCon team
  2. A summary of the YouthCon Winner’s project and its implementation
  3. Other materials highlighting the work of the YouthCon winner and/or AASuccess catering towards donors and sponsors

 A final presentation highlighting the following elements of their AASuccess internship: 

  1.  Summary of key responsibilities and results while an AASuccess intern
  2. Summary of the final deliverable(s) as outlined in the preceding bullet
  3. Recommendations for future marketing efforts in AASuccess, based on internship and student experience
  4. Reflection of the student intern’s experience at AASuccess, including how the AASuccess Leadership Model and LTP modules were relevant to the intern’s performance and experience
Within the AASuccess infrastructure, you will have the opportunity to work with and learn from AASuccess staff, Board members, and students, as well as well-connected donors and community leaders.  Through all of these experiences, you will learn and practice valuable soft skills necessary to become a well-cultured and well-mannered community leader.
 

Education and Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a high school’s degree or Bachelor’s degree program
  • Solid record or past work experience and/or participation in meaningful social events or activities
  • Tech savvy knowledge of various computer programs or willingness to learn them
  • Detail oriented, and able to manage multiple assignments and to adapt the same story for different social voices
  • Collaborates easily and often. Ability to work cross-functionally. Displays good judgement, maturity, and enthusiasm
  • Possess a passion for, and a demonstrated commitment to, improving the life opportunities of youth. Culture of “Giving Back”: Full participation in and contribution to AASuccess initiatives – two to three (2-3) hours per Saturday dedicated solely to learning and/or building relationships via work assignments. Your participation in AASuccess non-profit work is critical to your future work and career advancement within or outside of AASuccess, as your Giving Back record will be noted in our recommendation letters.

Internship Details

  • Employment duration: June 11, 2021 – August 11, 2021, with the requirement to work at least three (3) months in the designated position.
  • Employment at-will: The conditions of employment are contingent upon the employee and employer’s desire to maintain the employment relationship. Therefore, the employee and employer have the right to terminate the employment relationship at any point after the aforementioned required duration of employment of three (3) months. Conditions for termination include violation of non-disclosure agreement(s) and/or rules of conduct and behavior. 
  • Work location: At listed address in letterhead above and/or telework.
  • Work hours: The intern is expected to work five (5) hours per week.
  • Pay rate: Fifteen dollars ($15) per hour.
  • Benefits:  Not available to interns.
