All volunteers will be trained to be caring mentors for students while they are in the program. The goal of this work is to ensure the quality of the mentorship, as well as providing volunteers with necessary tools and skills to engage with students. Through the mentorship, AASuccess hope that the students will complete the program, enter college, stick with placements, provide higher levels of service and leadership to their communities, and become mentors themselves.
Our youth-oriented approach allows committed, caring mentor volunteers to take a personal stake in the lives of young people who benefit from their guidance.
- The first step in becoming a mentor is to fill out the online Mentor Application.
- Once AASuccess receives your application, we will review it and contact you within one to two business days.
- If AASuccess determines that you are eligible for our program, we will schedule an in-person interview with you. The interview will take about 30-40 minutes.
- After the interview, we will review your references, application and interview materials. If accepted, you will receive an email informing you to begin the clearance process. This process takes up to 6 weeks to complete.
- You must be 21 years old or older;
- You must attend and complete our mentoring training session;
- Be willing to submit your information for a criminal background check.
- To apply to become an AASuccess volunteer, please fill out the volunteer form. We will go over your application and reply within 2 weeks.
An interview will be scheduled after the initial contact. Information about the interview will be emailed before the meeting.
AASuccess welcomes professionals from all work fields to come and share their experiences with our student members. Not only does this enrich the learning experiences at AASuccess, but it also provides an engaging environment for students to meet, connect, and share their points of view with the guest speakers.
Hosted every month, the AASuccess Seminar Program is open to both student members and outside guests. Topics cover a wide array of field, including Business, Career, Writing, Public Speaking, Banking, etc…

- Once AASuccess receives your application, we will review it and contact you within one to two business days. If AASuccess determines that you are eligible for our program, we will schedule an in-person or phone interview with you.
- After the interview, the seminar organizer will work with you to prepare for your presentation. Works include: inviting guests, creating flyers, preparing IT support, etc.
- Sound public speaking skill;
- Willing to engage and share with students a topic that is relevant to them;
- Willing to spend a total of roughly 1-2 hours for the presentation, including preparing & communicating with the organizer of the seminar;
- Be willing to submit your information for a criminal background check.
