2022 Gala Volunteer Opportunity

Join us in planning and hosting the 2022 Fundraising Gala  “Dare to Dream Big” as AASuccess students and alumni break the cycles of social injustices such as mental wellness, representation of minorities in S.T.E.M, and the empowerment of women. As we conclude our 15th year, AASuccess members have continued to progress their passions which breaks the barriers of the traditional American dream. Our students continue to strive and persevere while navigating through their education and unique societal issues. AASuccess invites you to sponsor our students’ successes in executing our following goals for 2022: Mental Health Conference for 40 underserved teenagers, empowering 10 women in cultivating their career paths, and implementing or exposing 40 children in S.T.E.M.

  • Event Time: 6 PM – 9 PM

Gala Committee Team Member

  • Commitment: 2-3 hours per week
  • Description: In this team, you will work with other volunteers and core AASuccess mentors and students to plan the gala in August.
    • Picking the venue and coordinating with the hotel staff/vendors
    • Creating the guest list and program
    • Devising the decor and floor plan

Event Day & Engagement Team Member

  • Commitment: 1 hour per week
  • Description: In this team, you will be responsible for items that will entertain and ensure our guests are satisfied with the event we put on. The bulk of the work will be on the event day.
    • Coordinating with volunteers, student ambassadors, and entertainment
    • Greeting guests and ushering them to their seats
    • Ensuring all materials arrive at the venue and are set up in the correct area

Fundraising Team Member

  • Commitment: 1-2 hours per week
  • Description: In this team, you will work with the fundraising team lead to raise funds to support AASuccess and our partners.
    • Producing the gala sponsorship package
    • Speaking with potential donors and sponsors
    • Creating lasting partnerships

Marketing Team Member

  • Commitment: 1- 2 hours per week
  • Description: In this team, you will work with the campaign lead to effectively execute the marketing campaign to reach the fundraising goal.
    • Selecting the logo and creating merchandise to be sold
    • Writing the content weekly for the campaign
    • Creating and sending out invitations

Internship Overview

The internship goal of a Vietnam Marketing Intern Summer 2021 is to research marketing trends pertaining to DELTA Success and spearhead media work related to Vietnam/DELTA, specifically on the DELTA/AASuccess website, Instagram, Facebook et cetera, and will support marketing campaigns by planning and executing their weekly tasks.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate values that align closely with AASuccess and is not afraid to devise a variety of creative ideas through different mediums for our AASuccess brand.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Spearhead DELTA Success media pushes for all DELTA Success programs in 2021 via email, website, and social media.
  • Coordinate social media engagement and media releases with the AASuccess Marketing Intern.
  • Build positive relationships with our connectors, supporters, and donors while enhancing our marketing efforts.
  • Work alongside relevant team members to generate high-impact media campaigns for students, mentors, and supporters of AASuccess and DELTA. 
  • The intern is expected to produce weekly progress reports to the reporting manager to highlight work progress and achievement(s) and present at weekly Operations meetings (when schedule permits).
  • Full participation in and contribution to AASuccess initiatives; specifically attending at least two N3 sessions per month.
  • Conduct record management of files as directed.
  • All interns agree to policies and procedures for handling confidential documentation and information.

Deliverables

By the end date of the internship, the intern is expected to produce the following final deliverables: 
Internal users (i.e AASuccess Board, mentors) will have access to a Google Drive folder including, but not limited to, the following items:
  • Comprehensive documentation (i.e pamphlet), created by the Marketing intern, detailing key aspects of DELTA Success relevant to interested mentors. 
  • Such details will be sourced from existing media such as the AASuccess website or DELTA Annual Report and from interviews with relevant stakeholders. 
  • Such a document can be shared with interested parties to persuade and inform them to be a meaningful mentor to a DELTA Success student.
  • A one-pager FAQ document answering common questions internal members may be asked by an interested mentor.
Generating marketing content for DELTA Success, including:
  • Work with key staff members to provide a monthly marketing document (in Vietnamese and English) pertaining to DELTA Success programs and activities.
    • Such a document should be suited for key stakeholders and/or prospective donors of DELTA Success.
  • Work with key staff members to produce marketing content (brochure, videos, blogs, podcasts, interviews) pertaining to DELTA Success to be featured on social media and AASuccess website.
    • Produce marketing content by interviewing key stakeholders and writing articles to support AASuccess #15for15 campaign.
A final presentation highlighting the following elements of their AASuccess internship:

The internship goal of an Arc360 Intern Summer 2021 is to work internally with students and mentors to create a new sustainable process for Arc360. This intern will control the operations of the team and how projects will be carried out. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate values that align closely with AASuccess, and is not afraid to devise a variety of creative ideas through different mediums for our AASuccess brand every day. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the Civic Project Team in managing and creating an Arc360 process and focus on effective cross-team information sharing, timeliness, and project management.
  • Advocate for the interests of AASuccess students by gathering and reporting feedback on student mentors and working with Operations and LSA mentors to improve outcomes of student projects.
  • Manages, monitors, and approves quality of Arc360 projects.
  • Build positive relationships with our connectors, supporters, and donors while enhancing our marketing efforts.
  • Work alongside key Board Members and the Civic Project team to generate high-impact Arc360 projects for students, mentors, and supporters of AASuccess.

A viable quality assurance and coordination process for the Arc360 Civic Projects division of AASuccess meeting the following requirements:

  • Explains how the student lead will work with the Arc360 coordinator to identify project milestones, ensure project quality assurance, identify necessary partnerships across
  • AASuccess staff (i.e Finance, Operations) and produce marketing materials necessary for project completion and community support/awareness
  • Optimizes the Arc360 student project process for relevant end-users and stakeholders, including students, mentors, and volunteers
  • Provides future Arc360 coordinators clear plans, including comprehensive documentation, for staff transitions

The internship goal of a Fundraising Intern Summer 2021 is to  execute and create fundraising events for AASucccess / YouthCon. They will work closely to understand the trends of certain fundraising events and how they can tie that in with their own fundraising. This intern will make sure we will stay on track with monetary donations each month, as well as, will be responsible for the outreach to donors bi-weekly.

  • Coordinate and assist the Finance and Fundraising Team in managing the 2021 YouthCon finances, and 2021 fundraising efforts with a focus on effective cross-team information sharing, timeliness, and project management.
  • Monitor and manage the Fundraising team’s progress, ensuring team goals and milestones are met 
  • Provides administrative support to the Fundraising team lead
  • Build positive relationships with our connectors, supporters, and donors while enhancing our fundraising events and efforts.
  • Work alongside key Board Members and fundraising team leads to generate high-impact fundraising events for students, mentors, and supporters of AASuccess.
  • Collaborates with the Marketing intern to produce and deliver marketing materials and correspondence targeting donors and sponsors of AASuccess
  • Create bi-weekly reports for the Fundraising and Operations team, providing critical updates on donor outreach and donation milestones

This intern will work closely with both the management and Operations teams, with an emphasis on building relationships and establishing an efficient workflow for both the current team leads and incoming operations interns.

  • Coordinate and assist the Operations Team leads in managing the LSA, 2021 YouthCon, 2021 fundraising efforts with a focus on effective cross-team information sharing, timeliness, and project management.
  • Develop program materials, establish requirements for and execute an Operations Team transition protocol created exclusively for qualified AASuccess Level 2 interns. The intern is expected to present bi-weekly at Operations meetings to highlight work progress and achievement(s).

Internship Overview

The internship goal of a Media and Public Relations intern is to apply knowledge acquired in school and training via AASuccess life skills academy to real-world situations, as well as gain both leadership and soft skills necessary for a successful career in life. The ideal candidate will demonstrate values that align closely with AASuccess, and is not afraid to devise a variety of creative ideas through different mediums for our AASuccess brand every day. This intern will work closely with both the management and operations teams with an emphasis on relationships building, branding and public relations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Lead: research, write, and create communication materials such as press releases, newsletters, marketing emails, brochures, and social media posts that truly shares our work and mission to stakeholders
  • Assist Marketing and Fundraising team to improve the aesthetic profile of AASuccess materials
  • Develop current and future media products to highlight our work and programs
  • Optimize social media posts (language tone, message) based on our audiences and our diverse social personalities
  • Participate in helping develop LSA materials for virtual trainings and support our important work in core value trainings
  • Bring growth and confidence to all voices in AASuccess. Strong concepting, communicating, and writing ability to work with key volunteer board members and program leads to respond to planned opportunities, real-time moments, influencers, brands, or events
  • Work alongside with key board members and fundraising team leads to generate high-impact opportunities
  • Conduct record management of files as directed.
  • All interns agree to policies and procedures for handling confidential documentation and confidential information

Education and Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled in a high school’s degree or Bachelor’s degree program
  • Solid record or past work experience and/or participation in meaningful social events or activities
  • Tech savvy knowledge of various computer programs or willingness to learn them
  • Detail oriented, and able to manage multiple assignments and to adapt the same story for different social voices
  • Collaborates easily and often. Ability to work cross-functionally. Displays good judgement, maturity, and enthusiasm
  • Possess a passion for, and a demonstrated commitment to, improving the life opportunities of youth. Culture of “Giving Back”: Full participation in and contribution to AASuccess initiatives – two to three (2-3) hours per Saturday dedicated solely to learning and/or building relationships via work assignments. Your participation in AASuccess non-profit work is critical to your future work and career advancement within or outside of AASuccess, as your Giving Back record will be noted in our recommendation letters.

  • Coordinate daily Arc360 Operations and programs: Life Skills Academy (LSA), Arch360, fundraising, finance, and etc.
  • Develop programs’ materials, establish staff’s requirements, and create reports to highlight programs’ progress and achievement
  • Build positive relationships with our connectors and supporters, while enhancing and promoting our organization’s flagship program, LSA.

Internship Overview

The goal of an internship in finance is to apply knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world situations, as well as gain the skills and experience that is necessary to prepare the student for a successful career in finance. Students also have the elective of Quickbooks, which explores the different tools for financial work in depth and exposes student to finance work software.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • A finance intern usually works under the supervision of the business services division. management and must follow the accounting or auditing process
  • To collect, understand, process, verify and report accounting related-information to his/her supervisor
  • Be given professional analytical and management support work assignments
  • Assistance shall be required in the preparation of monthly or weekly financial reports
  • Develop and utilize spreadsheets, databases and other computer applications
  • Manage specialized information, reports, forms dealing with fees, billing, tracking of projects etc
  • Enter information into the financial accounting system of the company

Education and Qualifications

  • Finance interns are students of business administration, management or want to become CFAs.
  • Possess a passion for, and a demonstrated commitment to, improving the life opportunities of disadvantaged youth
