Students will get additional training, learning and developing the skill sets. Students take part and lead in various community projects and work assignments.

Learning Objectives

Students who enter Life Skills Essentials will learn of community and culture, and learn to contrast the consequences of adequate and inadequate reasoning for self, family members, others. Life Skills Essentials will help students assess personal values and goals, and demonstrate strategies for them to excel at home, at school, at work and in various social, business, and community settings arranged exclusively via AASuccess.

Curriculum

Part 1: Soft Skills Development

  • Professionalism: Case Studies

Student will learn acceptable and appropriate manners through body and English spoken language in a global culture.

Students will learn tips on how to write a professional e-mail message by examining examples of email correspondence. The goal is to help students identify their audiences and write appropriate messages for them in a clear and concise language.

Students will be given leadership project opportunities that relate to their career choices.  Students are expected to complete at least five hours of work per week for forty weeks.  Exact working schedule would be arranged with the supervising Life Skills Mentors. 

Students will learn to prepare and do well on presentations.  Presentation skills are useful in many aspects of real-world work assignments at BCLC Global. Furthermore, displays of body language, accomplishments and skills are measurable impacts set for students as they work through their three-month plans.

Students will learn reading skills that are essential for the SAT test and college courses, as well as practices that are important to understand documents of future projects.

Students will work with Life Skills Mentors and their parents on resources needed to prepare for college applications and educational opportunities.  Students who need assistance with writing essays for college applications should consider taking this module to learn how to write concisely, yet effectively. Students can take this module multiple times with prior arrangement with their Life Skills Mentors.

Part 2: Student-Led Projects / Work-Learn Program

Embarrassing typos can be avoided in written works by mastering technical editing and proofreading skills. Students will work with a specialized Skills Coach who will teach them common mistakes to avoid.

Students will formally begin using reporting templates and learn tips on how to quickly and concisely make reports in both written and verbal format.

Students will learn the basics of overcoming this fear by remembering practical tips from experienced presenters.  Students will learn practical skills to avoid embarrassing on-camera moments, making the spotlight seem natural.

Students will learn how to use Google Docs, Dropbox, Skype, and other popular IT collaboration tools currently available to help manage communication among workgroups. Students will be expected to use these tools while enrolled in the work-learn program and/or AASuccess assigned projects.

Applying mindfulness to each of the previous communication skills, enhancing the students’ amiability that enables them to work collaboratively with other people.
