Level 1: Essentials

This level lays the foundation. We foster a student who is caring, has integrity, be able to voice their thoughts and communicate effectively.

Learning Objectives

Students who enter Life Skills Basic will be provided with an overview of fundamental life skills and an introduction to learning concepts that will benefit them in real life environments. 

Through the establishment of a trusted mentor-mentee relationship, each student is encouraged to discover their personal goal, dream, talents. We strive to help every student build integrity, freely voice their thoughts, and effectively communicate their unique opinions. 

Students at this level will learn of community and culture, and learn to contrast the consequences of adequate and inadequate reasoning for self, family members, others. Life Skills Basic will help students assess personal values and goals, and demonstrate strategies for them to be responsible individuals at home, at school, at work and in various social and community settings arranged via AASuccess.

Curriculum

  • How to Set Up a 3-Month Plan
  • School, Body, and Mind
  • Learn, Reflect and Prioritize Goals

Students will learn how to develop personal objectives and create a timeline that highlights accomplished milestones on a quarterly basis.

  • Mannerism & Etiquette
  • Body Language
  • Learn different cultures

Students will be asked to practice appropriate language choice, body language, and dress code to enhance their overall personal image.

  • Business Grammar
  • Email writing and etiquette
  • Reporting (verbal & written)
  • Be able to learn, then relate and apply what learned to the student’s daily life. 

  • Learning effectively to do well in school and work as outstanding interns. 

  • Students will analyze how their current journeys in life have shaped their way of thinking and behaviors – in the context of family, cultural understanding, work ethics, and history.

  • Be well-versed in researching and creating presentation materials
  • Be comfortable/confident in presenting various topics in front of an audience
  • Be able to research, create, and present a topic in short notice
  • Professionalism, civility, manners, etiquette, social intelligent, ethics in a collaborative environment
  • Self Motivation – Self Assessment
  • Self Awareness – EI Essentials

Students will learn how to reflect on personal, family, and social values; then rank (or prioritize) them through a self-assessment exercise. Students will then work with Life Skills Mentors to understand their personality traits and how others may perceive them. By the end of the core values modules, students will be asked to establish their own personal goals.  The core value modules are critical for the student’s development during his or her Life Skills journey with AASuccess. 

  • Technical Proofreading & Editing
  • Reading Skills (Tips and techniques and practice for getting the most out of reading high school and college textbooks)
