about Our YouthCon Ceremony

The AASuccess YouthCon Scholarship is a scholarship competition that provides high school students the opportunity to brainstorm and share creative solutions to pressing societal problems that they are passionate about in their communities. To celebrate the accomplishments of the YouthCon Scholarship recipients, AASuccess will host a YouthCon Scholarship Award Ceremony; however, the event will be a close-knit ceremony due to the unique circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, we will also be hosting a concurrent live stream of our event (see the “Live Stream” section of this page), as well as adhering to CDC guidelines at our in-person ceremony (see “Health & Safety”). Nonetheless, our event will serve in uniting 100+ community supporters in the Northern Virginia and Greater Washington D.C. Area, with our 2019 event netting more than $50,000 thanks to our generous donors and sponsors.

This year, the theme of our event is “Lasting Legacy,” which aims to encourage young students to become knowledgeable of the issues within and beyond their community and take action to positively influence our society. With that said, our event and live stream will honor the legacy of AASuccess, specifically the accomplishments of the YouthCon Scholarship recipients. Additionally, we would like to accentuate our gratitude to our supporters and emphasize the importance of staying united, taking action, and inspiring hope, even in times of distress. We hope that you will join us in continuing to celebrate the power of youth to push through adversity and enact positive change in their communities.

All donations towards AASuccess will aid in sustaining and expanding our non-profit activities and programs, such as the Life Skills Academy, the annual YouthCon Scholarship, student-led community projects, and tutoring/mentoring programs for our students. program

In order to highlight our theme, “Lasting Legacy,” this year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Duc Le, an accomplished doctor dedicated to serving impoverished communities in Vietnam through his 20 years of experience as an emergency room doctor. Additionally, Dr. Duc Le is the newly minted President-elect of Hope For Tomorrow, a non-profit organization that provides thousands of dental treatments, eye exams, and care packages to underserved communities in the U.S and abroad. Dr. Duc Le embodies the lasting legacy we strive to inspire in our communities, and we hope you will join us in celebrating his achievements as well as those of our scholarship recipients at our ceremony.
