Students will be asked to review the AASuccess Policies and Procedures manual with their Life Skills Coach in detail to get a better understanding of operational procedures.
Students will learn how to develop personal objectives and create a timeline that highlights accomplished milestones on a quarterly basis.
Students will begin this module by reflecting on personal, family, and societal values; then rank (or prioritize) them through a self-assessment exercise. Students will then work with the Life Skills Coach to understand their personality traits and how others may perceive them. By the end of the lesson, students will be asked to establish their own personal goals. The length of this lesson will depend on each student’s openness and comfort level.
This module is divided into two parts. In part 1, students will learn acceptable and appropriate manners through body and spoken language. In part 2, students will demonstrate learned etiquette through various social activities and/or events.
Students will analyze how their current journeys in life have shaped their way of thinking – in the context of a family, cultural understanding, and history.
Students will work with a Life Skills Coach and their parents on resources needed to prepare for college applications and educational opportunities.
Students will learn tips on how to write a professional e-mail message by examining examples of e-mail correspondence. Students will learn how to create personal e-mail templates for multiple needs and usage. This module will help students identify their audiences, write appropriate messages for them – to be clear and concise.
Students will formally begin using reporting templates and learn tips on how to quickly and concisely make reports in both written and verbal format.
This course will help students recognize different parts of speech, use abbreviations and capitalization correctly, and make use of punctuation properly and effectively.
Students will learn to prepare and do well on presentations. Presentation skills are useful in many aspects of real-world work assignments at AASuccess. Furthermore, displays of body language, accomplishments and skills are measurable impacts set for students as they work through their three-month plans.
This module is designed teach students techniques, e.g., diet & fitness, mindfulness – to help improve their fitness, body, and to avoid stress.
This year-round module is designed to help students recognize the power of emotions, improve their emotional self-awareness, and better manage their emotions – all to enhance their effectiveness as individuals when experiencing changes in both the body and mind.
Students who want to improve their reading skills will work with a specialized Skills Coach in this module to learn tips for becoming a better reader.
Embarrassing typos can be avoided in written works by mastering technical editing and proofreading skills. Students will work with a specialized Skills Coach who will teach them common mistakes to avoid.
Students will learn, discuss, and analyze many different cultures and philosophies that guide individuals in their daily living. Cultures change because the way traditions are practiced has changed over time.
Students will learn how to successfully carry on a basic conversation with a professional, family member, peer, or project lead. This module is designed to help students learn techniques to be poised and confident, and to present themselves in the best possible light.
Students will master the art of editing and utilizing tools available via Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite products.
Students who need assistance with writing essays for college applications should consider taking this module to learn how to write concisely, yet effectively. Students can take this module multiple times with prior arrangement with their Life Skills Coach.
This module is intended for parents and students to understand the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process and other options for funding college, including scholarships and grants.
